Text Message Program & Opt-In
How the Foundation's text-message program works, and how you consent to receive it.
About the program
The Thelma Ellis Sixteen Foundation, Inc. (the "Foundation") operates a text-messaging program called "Thelma Ellis Sixteen Foundation, Inc. Alerts." It sends operational, non-marketing SMS messages to the Foundation's board members, staff, and volunteers who have opted in. Typical messages include:
- Board-meeting invitations and reminders
- Requests to review and electronically sign Foundation documents
- Quorum alerts to meeting organizers
- Occasional organizational updates
This program is for operational notices only. It is not used for marketing or promotion.
How you opt in (consent)
Recipients are a known, internal audience — board members, staff, and volunteers. You are added to the program only after you expressly opt in during onboarding, by checking a written consent box on your board, staff, or volunteer intake form that reads:
"Receive SMS notifications (meeting & signing texts) from the Thelma Ellis Sixteen Foundation, Inc.. Message & data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
Your consent is recorded for you individually by Foundation staff. We obtain phone numbers only from people who opt in — never from third parties — and we never buy, rent, or sell phone numbers. Your mobile information and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies depending on your role and Foundation activity.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Contact your mobile carrier for details about your plan.
How to opt out
You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. You will receive a one-time confirmation and then no further messages. To opt back in, reply START.
Help
For help, reply HELP to any message, or contact us at corporate [at] thelmaellis.org. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
Your information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and your use of our services is subject to our Terms of Use (see section 15, "SMS / text messaging program"). Mobile opt-in data and consent are not shared with, or sold to, any third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
